Fantasy Football 2011

I have always had a lot of success in Fantasy Football, and with that success comes people wanting me to team up with me for teams, so this year I have a team with my girlfriend, sister, and friend.

However, this coming Friday I have a draft for a new league I am doing, high stakes with a $1,500 entry fee. I should have read into it more closely as I do not like the set-up with 2RB, 3WR, and 1 Flex, not sure why there is that extra WR, and also the draft is a modified snake order for the first 3 rounds, so it goes 1-12, 12-1, 12-1 and then returns to a normal snake draft. I saw today that I will have the 4th pick, not a good spot as I prefer wither 12, 2, or 6. With Chris Johnson's holdout officially over I doubt that he will slip to me.

Here is a look at my first 3 teams:

Southie Ball Hawks (with girlfriend Elena)

QB: Matt Ryan
RB's: Ahmad Bradshaw, Arian Foster
WR's: Anquan Boldin, Dwayne Bowe
TE: Brandon Pettigrew
K: Mason Crosby
D: Chicago Bears (Plan to Drop and Pick a New D Each Week)

Reserves: Mark Sanchez, Brandon Jacobs, Felix Jones, Robert Meachem, Denarius Moore, Sidney Rice

Quick Take: This was the first draft and caught be a bit by surprise on some picks with the 90 second limit, and Bradshaw and Bowe will make or break the season. I did not like what I saw from Bradshaw in preseason, and Bowe is coming off a monster year, but is also a problem-child. Felix Jones was a steal where I got him and counting on a big season, but this team will need some strategic free agent additions to make a playoff run. Overall, I usually come out of a draft feeling much better than this one.

Mad Bombers (with sister Dani)

QB: Matt Ryan
RB's: Matt Forte, Mark Ingram
WR's: Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall
TE: Dustin Keller
K: Janikowski
D: Pitt

Reserves: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tim Hightower, Jonathan Stewart, Greg Little, Jermaine Gresham

Quick Take: I was able to get a few of the players I really covet this year in Matt Forte and Dez Bryant. I also see Greg Little as potential rookie of the year at WR, major skills. Hightower is a guy I am taking late, potential for 12 to 15 TD's with the Skins. Brandon Marshall and Calvin Johnson can be beasts in this PPR league, and if Ingram puts together a strong first season I think this team is a lock to make the playoffs.

Boston Rednecks (With friend Jeff)

QB: Ben Roethlisberger
RB's: Darren McFadden, Matt Forte
WR's: Roddy White, Mike Williams, Percy Harvin
TE: Vernon Davis
K: Mason Crosby
D: Packers

Reserves: Fred Jackson, Sam Bradford, Braylon Edwards, Danny Woodhead, Dustin Kellers, and Denarius Moore

Quick Take: This team is full of weapons at every position and Sam Bradford could throw 60 balls a game and be a top 7 QB this year, and possibly trade bait for this team later in the season. This team is well-rounded and really lacks any holes, could use an upgrade at WR but I have high expectations for Mike Williams, no Sophomore slump, and Harvin is the only weapon in Minnesota if the migraines are resolved. This team will definitely be in the Top 3 come year end.

  1. I follow your impressive options commentary on twitter and it's nice to see some nice football commentary mixed in.

I agree completely on Felix Jones being a stud this year...Let's hope Garrett gets him the rock close to 20 times a game.

I'm so confident in Bradford performing as a Top 8 QB that he's my #1 QB in my leagues. But I am a realist and know it's a huge gamble. Taking Bradford around the 9th round allowed me to stack up on RB/WR threats in the middle rounds.

Also like your Harvin, Mike Williams, Forte picks.

Best of luck to you in fantasy and against the spread picks.
