High Ranked Players to Avoid in Fantasy Football 2012

The following are players ranked in the Top 25 for their position that I would avoid on Draft Day:

Quarterbacks:

Tony Romo - Ranked as ESPN's 8th best QB is way over-rated and I feel is on the down-slide of his career.  He looked awful at times last year and also comes with injury risk and playing in a tough division.  His top two WR's are Austin and Bryant, neither of which can manage to stay on the field.

Peyton Manning - Being an avid Bronco's hater I have a bias here, but Manning is in for a wake-up call.  Coming back from a neck injury is no easy task and the Broncos lack a running game to take off the pressure with McGahee being like 100 years old.

Matt Schaub - Texans expected to be good this year, but this one is a clear injury-risk type play and also does not help that Andre Johnson is always injured, just not surrounded by enough weapons, the Texans did a poor job adding players in the offseason and will predominantly being a running team that wins low scoring defensive games.

Running Backs:

Maurice Jones-Drew - Combining the Hold-Out, an Aging RB, a Poor Team, and Injury-Risk at the 4th ranked RB Jones-Drew is a name to avoid,

Marshawn Lynch - Ranked 6th on ESPN for RB's is absurd.  I am a big fan of Lynch but he faces a suspension, and I expect Turbin to push him for carries.

Ryan Matthews - 12th Ranked RB and out 6 weeks with a broken clavicle.  The guy can not stay healthy, does not run hard and has not lived up to the hype.

Guys like Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, and Michael Turner should also be avoided in the early rounds as they are in the back-hales of their careers.

Wide Receivers:

Larry Fitzgerald - Fitzgerald is a star but Arizona has two lousy QB's and the O-Line offers no protection, so Larry's numbers will suffer and not worth of being the 2nd ranked WR.

Andre Johnson - Injury-Risk and 3rd ranked WR too high, prefer Roddy White, Wes Welker, Victor Cruz Brandon Marshall and AJ Green to him.

Brandon Lloyd - Too much hype here and new WR's rarely are effective in New England.  Brady looks to Welker, Gronk and Hernandez first, so Lloyd really is the fourth option at best.
